Founded in 1992 by its current musical director Daniel Kawka, the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain develops a deversified and original approach of contemporary music.
The ensemble gathers between 15 and 30 musicians and performs in France as well as in the rest of the world. Working with todays composers, the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain regularly invites international soloists and conductors, being thereby very open to new ways of playing.

The vitality of the ensemble can certainly be measured by its very large repertoire and inventive programs as well as its strong involvment in contemporary music. During the past 20 years EOC has world-premiered more than 80 pieces and counts over 400 works in its répertoire including pieces with electronics. The ensemble has been playing in South Corea, Brazil, Canada, Poland, Sweeden, Italy, Spain and Switzerland and will soon be performing in Germany.
