Actually orchestras and ensembles have complementary fields of repertoire with distinct vocations and meant to keep the musical inheritance alive (western baroque classic, romantic, modern music…)

A structure such as the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain finds its legitimacy in its successful and constant mission of creation, communication, opening and training provided to its audience. Its projects are implemented in order to remain in harmony and complementary to the various projects existing in other instrumental and orchestral structures. This structure, "specialized" in the repertoire of the second half of the 20th century has been historically imposed in the beginning of the 90s. During this time, a heavy activity was carried out to support broadcasting of the 20th century repertoire and creation, working closely with specific structures such as festivals and theatres.

 

1992 Creation of EOC located in Andrézieux-Bouthéon

1993 1st season of concerts - 5 programs

1996 1st concert abroad, in Oporto (Portugal)

1998 1st monographic disc dedicated to Gilbert Amy

2000 Creation of the opera of Evangelista at Opera of Lyon
