Gilles Peseyre began studying music in Montluçon, before going on to specialise in trumpet and cornet at the Conservatoire Massenet de Saint-Étienne. He was unanimously awarded a Premier Prix music diploma for trumpet and chamber music. He furthered his studies at the Conservatoire national de région de Lyon, earning a prix de perfectionnement advanced diploma. He also studied under Frédérique Mellardi, André Henry and Pierre Dutot while studying musicology at the University of Saint-Étienne.

He joined the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain in 1999 as a soloist, performing at numerous festivals in France (Présences, Manca, ManiFeste – Ircam) and abroad (Moscow, Sao Paulo, Stockholm, Seoul, Madrid, Geneva, Berlin). He has recorded three critically-acclaimed albums with the EOC.

He has also performed with various ensembles, such as Plural Ensemble in Madrid, the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne in Montreal, Orchestre National de Lyon and the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lyon. He has also appeared as a chamber music player in a brass quintet and as a trumpet and organ recitalist. He has been a musician with the Orchestre Symphonique Saint-Étienne Loire since 1999, performing at the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu and the Festival Berlioz in Côte-Saint-André, amongst others.

Alongside side his job as a musician, he also teaches trumpet at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Saint-Étienne.
